Chapala Mayor Alejandro Aguirre highlighted a sterling record in reducing the local crime rate during his four consecutive years in office as he outlined the achievements of his administration at the September 25 Informe de Gobierno (state of the municipality report).
Addressing a full house at the Centro de la Cultura y las Artes auditorium, Aguirre rattled off statistics to prove his point: home invasions reduced by 90 percent; auto parts theft down by 75 percent; vehicle thefts, threats against citizens, and domestic violence crimes all down by 50 percent; residential burglaries down by 20 percent; and intentional homicides standing at zero.
