‘Stop the insults’ campaign launched

A unique campaign urging people to stop insulting each other has been launched across Mexico.

Posters imploring citizens to “stop the insults” have been placed in Guadalajara and various other cities in the country. The initiative, called “It’s the moment to stop,” is a joint effort organized by the advertising company Grupo IMU and the civil association, Mexico United against Crime. Other posters in the campaign call for citizens to “stop violence” and “stop aggression.”

“We are looking to raise awareness among citizens and create a climate of respect and welfare among Mexicans,” said Grupo IMU Director Gerardo Candano Conesa. “We hope to prevent rising levels of violence in daily life.” As well as the public awareness initiative, campaign representatives are meeting with state authorities to discuss security agendas and plan to donate CCTV cameras to combat crime.
