Fomer Mexican President Fox apologizes to Trump

Former Mexican President Vicente Fox has apologized to likely Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump for using vulgar language when describing his wall policy.

In February, Fox was asked in an interview about Trump’s campaign. “I’m not going to pay for that f…ing wall,” the former president said. Yet this month, Fox was keen to make amends for his language. “I apologize. Being sorry is one of the great qualities that human beings have. It is the quality of a compassionate leader, you need to be humble.”

Fox went on to call for Trump to adopt a less confrontational, more empathetic style. “Love your nation, love the world,” Fox said. “I am humble enough to be a leader, a compassionate leader…but what about you?”
Fox went on to invite the Republican to Mexico. “I invite him to come and see what Mexico is about,” the former president said.

Humberto Roque, the government’s under-secretary for population, migration and religious affairs has said that Mexico has already made vital adjustments in response to Trump’s imminent presidential campaign. Among these changes is the appointment of Carlos Sada as the new Mexican ambassador to the United States and the naming of Carlos Perez Verdia as the new coordinator of the presidential advice committee.

Many Mexican commentators and analysts have expressed anger at Trump’s depiction of the relationship with Mexico, pointing that there are currently more United States citizens moving to Mexico than vice versa.
