Senior citizens enrolled in the federal government’s pension program will receive an upfront payment in July 1 to help offset any financial difficulties presented by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Besides their monthly check of July, pensioners will be paid for August, September and October. In total, for the four months the pensioners will receive 5,100 pesos. The bimonthly pension comes to 2,550 pesos. All Mexicans over age 68 are entitled to the pension, which was introduced by President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador shortly after he assumed office in December 2018. People living in indigenous regions of the country may claim the pension at 65 years of age.
