From November, Walmart de México will convert all its existing Superama stores to a new brand to be known as Walmart Express.
Superama stores are smaller than the main Walmart stores and sell mostly upscale groceries.
The company anticipates opening further Walmart Express stores, especially in areas where the retailer currently has no presence.
A Walmart statement said e-commerce grew by 200 percent in the third quarter of 2020, fueled by the coronavirus pandemic. Online purchases now account for 3.8 percent of the company’s total sales in Mexico, the retailer reported.
