All 15-17 year-olds eligible for Covid vaccine

Registrations will open on Friday, November 19, for Covid-19 vaccinations for all minors between 15 and 17 years of age, Deputy Health Minister Hugo López-Gatell announced Tuesday.

pg5bPreviously, only young people over 12 years of age with chronic conditions were eligible for jabs.

All Mexican citizens and permanent residents in this age category can register for the free vaccine on the website mivacuna.salud.gob.mx, using their CURP personal identity number.

López-Gatell said mortality from Covid in minors is “extremely low,” but that changes in the immune system from 15 years onward increases their “susceptibility” to the negative effects of the virus.
