No vaccines planned for under 15s

Even though children as young as 5 years of age are getting anti Covid jabs in many countries, Mexico is not considering including anyone under 15 years of age in its inoculation program, Deputy Health Minister Hugo López-Gatell confirmed this week.

“Only children between 12 to 17 years old who have diseases that increase the risk of complications from Covid (can be vaccinated),” he said.

López-Gatell also noted that the World Health Organization (WHO) has not recommended the vaccination of children.

“On the contrary, the WHO has repeatedly insisted that we have a global problem of inequality in the distribution of vaccines and has repeatedly called for countries that have very low coverage to prioritize the vaccination of adults,” the deputy minister pointed out.
