Inflation continues to fall

Inflation in Mexico dropped for the ninth consecutive two-weekly period between September 1 and 14, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

The annual rate for this period was 4.44 percent, down slightly from 4.60 percent in the last two weeks of August. Meanwhile, Mexico’s central bank, Banxico, for the fourth consecutive month decided to keep its base interest rate at 11.25 percent, noting that “the inflationary outlook is still complicated.” Mexico’s inflation rate for 2022 was 7.90 percent, a 2.21 percent increase from 2021.
