Along with the national holidays observed during 2025, several noteworthy festivities and special events will take place in the Guadalajara metro area over the next 12 months.
Official National Holidays (dias de asueto) are highlighted in bold type. Government offices, financial institutions, schools, and some businesses close on these occasions. Under Federal Labor Laws, salaried workers are granted a day off with regular pay on statutory holidays. Employees who do work on these dates are entitled to full daily wages plus double time for the hours worked.
January 1: Año Nuevo (New Year’s Day), statutory holiday.
January 6: Dia de los Santos Reyes (Three Kings Day, Epiphany). Fiestas Patronales de los Reyes Magos December 30-January 8 in Cajititlán.
January 21-24: Intermoda, international fashion trade show at Expo Guadalajara.
February 3: Conmemoración del Aniversario de la Constitución (Mexican Constitution Day, statutory holiday first Monday of the month).
February 14: Aniversario de la Ciudad (Anniversary of Guadalajara’s foundation, 1542), celebrated with multiple cultural and recreational activities.
February 18-22: Expo Enart winter trade show, exhibition of Mexican crafts, giftware and interior decoration at Centro Cultural El Refugio, Tlaquepaque.
February 24: Día de la Bandera (Flag Day).
March 5: Miércoles de Cenizas (Ash Wednesday), Lent begins.
March 13-15: Expo Café Gourmet trade show at Expo Guadalajara.
March 17: Conmemoración del Natalicio de Juárez (Commemoration Birth of Benito Juárez on March 21, 1806, statutory holiday third Monday of the month).
March 20: Equinoccio de Primavera (Vernal Equinox), first day of Spring.
April 13: Domingo de Ramos (Palm Sunday), Holy week begins.
April 20: Domingo de Resurrección (Easter Sunday).
April 23: Día Internacional del Libro (World Book Day) observed with a public reading marathon of a selected book by a famous author.
April 30: Día del Niño (Children’s Day).
May 1-30: Festival Cultural de Mayo (Jalisco’s May Cultural Festival), music and dance programs staged in Guadalajara and other venues around the state.
May 1: Dia del Trabajo (Mexico Labor Day, statutory holiday).
May 3: Día de la Santa Cruz (Day of the Holy Cross).
May 5: Cinco de Mayo (Commemoration Battle of Puebla, 1862).
May 10: Día de las Madres (Mexico Mother’s Day).
May 15: Día del Maestro (Teacher’s Day).
May 23: Día del Estudiante (Student’s Day).
June 5-14: Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG), Mexican and Ibero-American film screenings and award ceremonies at different venues.
June 13-29: Fiestas de San Pedro (St. Peter Apostle), religious festivities and fair in Tlaquepaque.
June 15: Día del Padre (Father’s Day).
June 20: Solticio de Verano (Summer Solstice), first day of Summer.
July 17-25: Fiestas Patronales de Santo Santiago (St. James Apostle) in Tonalá. Juego de Tastoanes, masked dance spectacle on the final day.
August 13-17: Feria del Elote (Zapopan Corn Fair), exhibition of corn-based foods, artisan crafts and family entertainment.
August 28-September 7: Encuentro Internacional del Mariachi y la Charrería (Guadalajara Mariachi music and Charrería festival), features musician workshops, concerts at numerous venues. Preceded by the Encuentro Nacional de Mariachi Tradicional, dates TBA.
August 28: Día del Adulto Mayor (Senior Citizen Day).
September 13: Día de los Niños Héroes (commemoration Heroic Defense of Chapultepec, 1847).
September 14: Día del Charro (Mexican Equestrian’s Day).
September 15: Grito de Dolores (Commemoration Cry of Independence, 1810).
September 16: Día de la Independencia (Mexico Independence Day, statutory holiday) .
September 22: Equinoccio de Otoño (Autumn Equinox), first day of Fall.
September 28: Día del Servidor Público (Jalisco Bureaucrats Day), government offices and public institutions close this date; may be observed on closest Monday or Friday.
October 3-November 3: Fiestas de Octubre (Guadalajara’s annual State Fair), concerts by top musical artists and bands, cultural events, family entertainment and commercial fair.
October 9-November 2: Expo Ganadera (Jalisco Livestock Fair), exhibitions of farm animals, family entertainment, and commercial fair at the Unión Ganadera grounds in Tlaquepaque.
October 12: Día de la Raza (Day of the Mestizo Race, AKA Columbus Day).
October 12: Romería de la Virgen de Zapopan (Guadalajara-Zapopan Pilgrimage), millions of pilgrims accompany the Virgin of Zapopan from the Guadalajara Cathedral to her home Basilica.
November 1: Día de Todos Santos (All Saints’ Day).
November 2: Día de los Fieles Difuntos (All Souls’ Day).
November 17: Conmemoración de la Revolución Mexicana (Mexico Revolution Day, statutory holiday, third Monday of the month).
November 20: Revolution Day anniversary.
November 27-December 7: Feria International del Libro (Guadalajara’s International Book Fair), the world’s largest Spanish-language book fair, editorial stands, conferences, and appearances by renowned authors, at Expo Guadalajara and other venues.
December 4-12: Virgen de Guadalupe fiestas (Mexico’s religious patroness).
December 21: Solticio de Invierno (Winter Solstice), first day of Winter.
December 24: Noche Buena (Christmas Eve).
December 25: Día de la Navidad (Christmas Day, statutory holiday).
December 28: Día de los Santos Inocentes (Holy Innocents Day), Mexico’s version of April Fools.
December 31: Año Viejo (New Year’s Eve).
