Mexican citizens at risk of deportation from the United States due to Donald Trump’s aggressive immigration policies can rely on increased support and guidance from the 53 Mexican consulates across the country.
The Mexican government announced that it is developing a cellphone app designed to help citizens in the U.S. alert family members if they are in imminent danger of deportation. According to Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente, the app will function like a panic button, sending a signal to the nearest Mexican consulate.
In response to the looming situation, the Mexican consulates have hired more than 300 additional legal advisers to assist Mexican citizens in immigration, civil and criminal matters, de la Fuente said at a press conference.
He also urged Mexican citizens with children born in the United States to ensure their children are registered with the consulates.
