Netanyahu waxwork vandalized at Mexico City museum

A group of people broke into the Mexico City Wax Museum (Museo de Cera) on January 7 and destroyed the figure of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

pg4 copiaA video circulating on social media shows a masked man placing a Palestinian flag at the statue’s feet, throwing red paint over it, and then smashing its face with a hammer. “This is for Gaza,” the man is heard saying, followed by, “Long live Palestine, long live Yemen, long live Puerto Rico.”

In a statement, the Wax Museum expressed deep regret over the incident, emphasizing that it is “a neutral institution, without any political, ideological or religious affiliation.” The Israeli embassy in Mexico City condemned the incident as “a despicable act that sends a dangerous message of violence,” adding that there is a fine line between activism and vandalism.
