Former Ajijic resident Richard Harry “Dick” Gerloch died March 1 in North Palm Beach, Florida at the age of 80.
Born October 19, 1932 in Rochester, Minnesota, Gerloch served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota, where he was a member and president of the Phi Beta Kappa fraternity.
A Mason and a Shriner, Gerloch was a volunteer for Cursillo, Jay Ministries and Kalros Prison Ministries. In Ajijic he was a volunteer with the Lakeside School for the Deaf and the Feeding Program in San Juan Cosala. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in North Palm Beach and Lakeside Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Eadene Petrie “Petee” Gerloch, son Peter Harry Gerloch II of North Palm Beach and daughter Gretchen Anne Gerloch of Dallas, Texas.
Burial has already taken place in Florida.
