Chuck Grierson, a former longtime lakeside resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, near Pheonix, Arizona, where he had lived for several years. He was 85 years old.
Born in Casper, Wyoming on May 21, 1928, Grierson was a restaurant owner in that town until the late 1970s. He then lived in Hawaii and Palm Springs before moving to Mexico in 1993 with his wife Carol Martin.
Grierson loved music and was a professional drummer most of his life, having started at a very young age. Music is what he loved most. He will always be remembered as the featured drummer on Sundays at the La Bodega Restaurant, as well as for his “gigs” with John Esquivel.
Grierson was always an active Shriner, and one of the founders of the Lake Chapala Shrine Club. He was also a staunch supporter of the Toys for Tots program.
Grierson leaves six children, 14 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all.
