Cindy Matheson
Cynthia Madelain Matheson died at her lakeside home June 17.
Born August 25, 1942 in New York, New York, Cindy was raised in Florida and attended Florida University.
She met Steve Matheson, the love of her life, while on a diving excursion in Papua New Guinea. They were married in April 1994. They traveled the world and lived in Papua New Guinea, Australia, Arizona and South Carolina.
Cindy’s career years were spent owning and operating eight travel agencies throughout Arizona, building and running a guest lodge in Arizona, and helping run a farm in South Carolina. She was always involved with Rotary clubs, garden clubs and charities that involved advocating women’s rights.
In 2016, Cindy and Steve moved to Lakeside, where she was active in three garden clubs.
Gardening was Cindy’s passion. She gardened for four to five hours each day while listening to her book tapes. She would take a power walk daily and adored her pets, “Paws” and “Cisco.” Cindy had an incredible gift of knowledge and retained everything she read. She never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a hug and a smile that would melt hearts and light up the world.
Cindy loved life and enjoyed every minute to the fullest. You could spot her anywhere, as she always dressed with her passion for color and flowers. No one that knew her will ever forget her smile. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband Steve, two step-children, Anya and Jay Matheson, and two brothers.
