Jova relief funds finally released

Three months after Hurricane Jova devastated much of Jalisco’s Pacific coastline, the first 200 million pesos of government aid have finally arrived in the affected communities.

The majority of the money from the federal government’s National Disaster Fund will go toward repairing roads, highways and bridges. The funds, delayed by political squabbling and lengthy damage assessments, were finally sent through on January 1, long after the storm struck in mid-October.
