Puerto Vallarta recovering at lightning speed

Puerto Vallarta has been one of the quickest areas to see a recovery from the Covid-19 shutdown that decimated much of Jalisco’s economy last year.

for no 7Luis Villaseñor, director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Promotion and Advertising Trust, said that domestic and international airlines are reporting a significant increase in demand, especially on weekends, long weekends and vacation periods. During April, just over 1,500 flights touched down at the resort’s airport, including low-cost U.S. carriers, such as Jetblue and Spirt, that had stopped service during the worst of the pandemic.

Hotel occupancy in Vallarta rose to 47.5 percent in March, and pre-booking estimates for July and August suggest the resort will reach around 66 percent – the upper limit set by the Jalisco state government under its Covid protocols.
