Anyone 18 years old and over residing in Puerto Vallarta may obtain an anti-Covid vaccination as of July 23, Jalisco health authorities announced Wednesday.

for no 7The decision to accelerate the federal inoculation program in the resort comes amid a spike in Covid-19 infections throughout the state, especially among the younger, unvaccinated age group.

Puerto Vallarta has seen cases soar rapidly, caused inevitably by the uptick in visitors in recent weeks. Although a state mandate caps bars and clubs to under two-thirds of their maximum capacity, younger people visiting the resort are flocking to these establishments, despite concerns that they are breeding grounds for Covid transmission.

Health officials are also concerned that hospitals in the area are starting to run out of beds for sick patients, some reports say.

Protecting young workers in Vallarta’s tourism sector is the main reason for ramping up the program, Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro said.
