A man and a woman, described only as being of “foreign origin,” were arrested this week in Puerto Vallarta in an operation involving the Mexican Navy, the National Guard and municipal police.
According to the federal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the pair were classified as “priority targets” by U.S. authorities. “They are involved in fentanyl trafficking and firearms possession and have an extradition order,” the SSPC reported.
U.S. authorities have identified the detainees as Aaron Wilkie Murphy, 51, and Hong Thao Thi Nguyen, 45.
The arrests were deemed significant enough for SSPC head Omar García Harfuch to share details on his X account.
Infobae México reported that U.S. court records show Aaron “N” was accused by the Northern District of Oklahoma in August 2018 of drug trafficking and allegedly using his home for drug-related activities.
