The 911 emergency number will come into effect in Jalisco on January 9, 2017.
However, calls made now to this number are being “unofficially” connected to the state’s emergency call center, authorities confirm.
The 911 number was launched in October in 16 of Mexico’s 32 states.
Once it becomes fully operational throughout Jalisco, the 066 number will be phased out, although citizens will be able to use both numbers for the first six months of next year.
