Former independent Jalisco legislator Pedro Kumamoto, 30, was unable to repeat his extraordinary result of 2015, failing in his bid to win the race for Zapopan mayor,
coming in third for his new Futuro Party, behind winner Juan Frangie of the Movimiento Ciudadano and the Morena Party candidate.Kumamoto noted that in its debut election, Futuro achieved enough votes to maintain its registration, earn a seat in the State Congress and possibly win two mayoral seats.
