Property crime falling, state gov’t boasts

Property crime has decreased by 49 percent in Jalisco over the past four years, with 2021 seeing the lowest figures recorded during the three-year administration of Governor Enrique Alfaro, the state government announced this week.

The data also notes that the “perception of insecurity” in the state has improved by 7.1 points.  The homicide rate also fell last year, and now stands at 20 per 100,000 inhabitants.

Despite these encouraging stats, the state government acknowledges that femicides, rapes and domestic violence increased during 2021.
