Second booster shots... Are they really necessary?

In mid-April, the Jalisco Health Department (SSJ) suddenly announced that second booster Covid jabs (fourth shots) would be made available to health care workers and everyone over 60 who had received their first booster more than four months previously.

pg3The program ran only until April 30, and was viewed by some as a way for health authorities to use up excess vaccines before their expiration date.

In what appeared a rather spur of the moment decision, the SSJ did not offer much additional explanatory information to seniors regarding the necessity for another booster at that time.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), however, recently updated its Covid-19 vaccination guidance on second boosters, which are available in the United States to anyone over 50 years of age who received an initial booster at least four months ago, as well as the moderately or severely immunocompromised over 12 years of age.
