Academic calendar 2024-2025 unveiled

Mexico’s Ministry of Education has announced the official calendar for the 2024-2025 academic year, applicable to public and private schools that provide preschool, primary and secondary level studies.

Schools will close for this year’s summer vacation on July 22. Students will return to school on Monday, August 26 and finish the 12-month term on July 16, 2025 upon completing 190 days of classroom work.

Classes will be suspended for national holidays on September 16, November 18, February 3, March 17, May 1, 5 and 15, the December 19 to January 3 Christmas break, and the April 14 to 25 Easter break.

Students will also get time off on September 27, October 25, November 29, January 6 to 8, February 28, March 28, May 30 and June 27, the dates when school personnel attend sessions of internal technical scholastic councils and teacher training workshops.

Some of the above dates may be altered or augmented in observance of state and local holidays.  For example, Jalisco schools and government offices were closed Monday, June 10 in commemoration of the 201st anniversary of the state’s foundation.

Staff will record student grades on November 22, March 21 and July 11, with report cards to be handed out to parents or legal tutors over the corresponding week that follows.

Pre-inscriptions for enrollment in preschool, primary grade one and secondary grade one for the 2025-2026 cycle will be open from February 4 to 14 of next year.
