A viral video of a middle-aged woman pulling a stray dog tied to her SUV in Tlaquepaque has sparked outrage and prompted police intervention.
The dog was unable to keep up with the speed of the vehicle and appeared visibly exhausted as it was dragged along the ground, with its paws bleeding.
According to reports, the woman told pedestrians who confronted her that she tied the dog to the vehicle because it “tried to get into her car” and was dirtying the seats. After arguing with the unrepentant woman, other motorists blocked her vehicle to prevent her from fleeing while the police were called.
Even upon the arrival of officers, the woman continued to defend her actions, claiming that the dog was “from the street” and downplaying its suffering. On Thursday of this week, a judge determined Catalina “N” should be kept in preventative detention for a maximum of three months while investigations into the case continue.
