Temperatures drop throughout Jalisco

As the year turns, colder weather has gripped much of central and northern Mexico, with Jalisco no exception.

Minimum temperatures have dropped below zero degrees Celsius (32°F) in several areas of the state, including the northern region inhabited by the Huichol indigenous population and parts of the Los Altos farming region near Lagos de Moreno, according to the University of Guadalajara’s Institute of Astronomy and Meteorology.

In metropolitan Guadalajara, temperatures have also fallen significantly, dipping to a low of 6°C (48.2°F) in some early mornings (5 a.m.) this week. These chilly mornings contrast sharply with the warm afternoons, where temperatures are reaching up to 26°C (78.8°F).

The abrupt temperature fluctuations have led to a steep rise in respiratory issues among the population, the Jalisco Health Department reported this week.
