The first heatwaves of 2025 are expected to hit Central Mexico this week, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN). Temperatures could reach up to 40°C in parts of Guerrero and Michoacán, while some areas of Jalisco are expected to see temperatures surpassing 35°C.
The heat will intensify throughout the month, with the full temporada de calor (hot season) beginning at the end of March and lasting until mid-June, when the rainy season arrives.
Several fires that broke out this week in the Primavera Forest to the west of Guadalajara is another indicator that the winter season is coming to a close.
