Airbnb stresses its positive impact on Jalisco economy

While often criticized for contributing to gentrification and rising property and rental costs, Airbnb’s presence in Jalisco is proving to have significant economic benefits for the region. 

Screen Shot 2025 10 23 at 18.58.02Recent data released by the company reveals that, in 2024 alone, Airbnb activities generated over 17 billion pesos (US$920 million) for the state, underscoring its role as a key player in Jalisco’s economic growth.

The platform insists that its influence stretches far beyond just the hosts and guests involved in bookings. In Jalisco, Airbnb claims to help sustain more than 36,000 jobs and contribute over 4.4 billion pesos (US$238 million) in labor income. This economic boost has primarily benefitted micro and small businesses, particularly those in food services, transportation and local retail, Airbnb says.
