More opportunities are opening up for Universidad de Guadalajara (UdeG) medical students to gain hands-on experience.
Joining Guadalajara’s two Civil Hospitals in the newly established “Hospital-Escuela Network” are the recently inaugurated Hospital Civil de Oriente in Tonalá, as well as the Colotlán and Ocotlán community health centers. Additionally, two new Civil Hospitals set to begin construction in 2026 and 2027 in Puerto Vallarta and Ciudad Guzmán will also be integrated into the network as teaching institutions affiliated with the UdeG.
This expanded Hospital-Escuela network will allow medical students to complete internships, community service and postgraduate studies in their own regions, said UdeG Rector Karla Planter. She added that the initiative will open more career opportunities in medicine while improving healthcare access in remote and indigenous communities across Jalisco.
