Bosses won’t fund unemployment insurance

Making good on a campaign promise, Jalisco Governor Aristoteles Sandoval has announced that he will shortly provide details on benefits for the unemployed.

“Those who have lose their jobs will not have to worry about how they are going to feed their children,” Sandoval said.  Unemployment insurance will enable those made redundant  to enter training and prepare to find work again, he added.

Temperatures rising

The hottest time of year is almost upon us and the National Water Commission revealed on Monday that the temperature in Santa Rosa, Jalisco reached a scorching 43.5 degrees Celsius.

Governor wants four-year terms for mayors

Jalisco Governor Jorge Aristoteles Sandoval wants to extend mayors’ terms of office in the state from three to four years. He believes three years is insufficient time for municipal administrations to generate plans and put them into practice satisfactorily. 

The initiative would not prohibit mayors from taking leave of office to run for higher office,  Sandoval said.  Sandoval barely served two years of his term as mayor of Guadalajara before stepping down to campaign for governor.
