Cases drop as vaccine program pushes on

Confirmed Covid-19 cases have continued to fall throughout October – the third consecutive month of a downward trend, Deputy Health Minister Hugo López-Gatell reported this week.

Widespread vaccination is the major reason for the decline, López-Gatell said, noting that the federal government is on track to achieve its goal of vaccinating everyone over 18 years of age with at least one dose of Covid vaccine by the end of October. However, he skirted around the pertinent fact that around a quarter of the population has declined to get inoculated for one reason or another.

In Jalisco, 73 percent of adults in the state have received at least one dose of vaccine, according to the latest federal governmentfigures. Four out of ten adults have received two doses.
