Bridge Club News

The Lake Chapala Duplicate Bridge Club is a member of the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL).

Members of the ACBL pay annual dues to support the league. Now, the ACBL is offering free 120-day memberships. For that period of time, non-members may take part in club games and tournaments with no charge. At the end of the 120 days, the prospective new member may purchase a full membership for the reduced fee of US$29.

If you are a bridge player but have never played duplicate bridge, now is the opportunity to try it at no charge and no obligation. One of the joys of playing duplicate is that your friends will have played the same hands and you can discuss what happened, why you triumphed, or, sadly, didn’t triumph. Enjoying the wins, laughing over odd things which happened and generally sharing the experience is one of the joys of duplicate bridge.

If interested, go to the Lake Chapala Duplicate Bridge Club website and register under “looking for a partner” and the club will provide a partner. The games are on Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and on Friday at 9:30 a.m. with a free lesson at 9. Hope to see you there—it will be free for the first time.

Last week’s winners:

Thursday, September 29: First: Mike Roney and Nicci Beninger; Second: Neal Hayden and Liz Naidoff.
