The creative mind and processes of Academy Award-winning Tapatio filmmaker Guillermo del Toro are being showcased in a mesmerizing exhibit opening at Guadalajara’s elegant Museo de las Artes (Musa) Saturday, June 1.
For the first time in its history, the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco (OFJ) will offer abonos – special, early sales of seats for its entire five-concert season, set to begin June 6 and wrap up July 14.
Monday recitals
Talented musicians of different genres showcased each Monday. May 27: Pianist Sergio Hernandez plays Mozart’s Sonata K. 330, Grieg’s Sonata Op. 7 and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. June 3: The Orquesta de Cámara Independiente de Guadalajara, directed by Guillermo Salvador, presents a program of works by Vivaldi.
The exhibit “Leonardo Da Vinci, 500 Años del Genio” (Leonardo Da Vinci, 500 Years of Genius), which opened at Guadalajara’s Palcco Cultural Center in March, will remain open through the end of June.
“Meticulous and delicate” is how one biographer describes the collection of large-format, charcoal drawings by Martha Pacheco, considered one of the principal artistic figures in Jalisco and probably most renowned for her masterful and unflinching portrayals of local people whom the rest of us might prefer to forget.
