Over the past six months the Covid-19 threat has put a stranglehold on lakeside’s once flourishing meal service sector, not to mention quashing a clientele ever eager to enjoy so many different experiences available for dining out.

Most local restaurants have been forced to struggle mightily to stay in business. Many managed to adapt to the situation by introducing carry-out menus and home delivery services. Sadly, a few that failed to live up to new challenges have already gone belly-up. Some others that have operated for ages are currently on the rocks.

At the same time, it’s been surprising to see that quite a few new eateries have popped up on the map. You can spot at least four recent creations in the span of a single block located just west of Chapala’s main intersection.
