More eco-friendly waves are reaching the shores of Costalegre. Christina Hernandez and Rodrigo Alvarez, with backgrounds in biology and bio-intensive agriculture respectively, recently gave a Power Point presentation to the civic-minded group United for Barra.

Coach Alberto Palacios Coronado would be grateful to collect 12,000 pesos to bus 24 Barra de Navidad area student athletes to a state competition in Guadalajara on December 11. The girls and boys he instructs in Olympic wrestling are aged between 5 and 19.

Barra’s families come from fishing and agriculture ancestry, so locals are drawn to certain musical styles. Of course, the town’s population includes tourists and expats, who along with locals, like to kick back and groove to banda, norteña and grupera sounds.
