Amsoc Xmas lunch

The American Society (Amsoc) holds its Posada Luncheon on Saturday, December 15. Children cared for by the Salvation Army will be present to sing a selection of Christmas carols in Spanish at 12.30 p.m. Their cute singing will not fail to put you in a festive mood. Following their performance, a lunch of chicken with creamy nut sauce, scalloped potatoes, green beans, salad and dessert will be served. Tickets are 200 pesos (180 for members) and 90 for children in advance, or 220 for adults and 100 for children on the door. The American Society is at San Francisco 3332 in Colonia Chapalita.

The American School Foundation of Guadalajara presents the English-language musical “The Wedding Singer” on Thursday, December 6; Friday, December 7 and Saturday, December 8 at the school’s auditorium.  Performance times are 7 p.m. on each evening.

Jordian Diaz, a resourceful downtown Guadalajara street artist/vendor, shows that he not only recycles but creates impressive pieces in a matter of minutes. His regular spot is on the sidewalk on Avenida Juarez, three blocks from 16 de septiembre, near Sirloin Stockade – if he hasn’t been moved on by now under new rules banning street vendors recently implemented by Guadalajara Mayor Ramiro Hernandez.
