Letters To The Editor - July 07, 2018

Dear Sir,

I understand that some U.S. expats are unhappy with Donald Trump and have expressed their emotions in public. Be forewarned.

The elected officers of Post 9 of the American Legion have previously decreed that U.S. citizens have no right to complain about the U.S. president.

When the officers made their position known, they knew that Trump hated Mexicans and saw them as a race of criminals, drug dealers and rapists. They also knew that he was going to build a great wall and make Mexico pay for it. Surely they also support Trump when he separates families and puts brown children in internment camps.

Members of Post 9 should form their own protest group in support of Trump and let the Mexican people know their opinion. Most assuredly, Mexicans would appreciate knowing exactly how the members feel about them.

I can’t see why any self respecting member of Post 9 would want to live in such an evil place. If I were a member and felt such disgust with my host country, I would do the honorable thing and leave.

I doubt they have the courage of their convictions. If they will email me their postal addresses, I will send them Trump bumper stickers so they can proudly display their contempt of the Mexican people. One I saw recently said, “In Trump We Trust.” Another one said, “Make America White Again.” Tell me which you prefer.

The Reverend Hank Shiver, PhD.
