Guadalajara golfer Carlos Ortiz, 22, has made a bright start to his first season on the elite U.S. PGA Tour.
The rookie easily made the cut in the tour’s first two events, finishing in 57th place in the Frys.com Open in Napa, California and 18th in the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ortiz was in scintillating form in the final round of the Las Vegas event, shooting a six-under par 65.
After two events, Ortiz is 36th on the money list with 81,274 dollars in winnings.
The Tapatio competes this weekend in the PGA Tour’s third event of the season, the McGladry Classic in Sea Island, Georgia.
