Rajeev Ram of the United States won the 2015 Jalisco Open after crushing his compatriot Jason Jung 6-1, 6-2 in Sunday’s final at Guadalajara’s Estadio Panamericano de Tenis. The one-sided encounter took just 48 minutes to complete, leaving most fans somewhat disappointed. Ram powered down 14 aces in the 15 games.
The women’s final, however, proved to be far more exciting, with Marcela Zacarias of Mexico edging out Victoria Rodriguez 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 in a match lasting more than two hours.
Ram, a 34-year-old veteran who was runner up in the 2013 tournament, took home US$15,000 and valuable ATP points.
It was a highly successful tournament for the American, who also won the doubles competition on Saturday partnered by Austin Krajicek, also of the United States.
