Guadalajara-based Astros de Jalisco defeated the Venados de Mazatlán Wednesday to advance to the final of the Pacific Coast Basketball Circuit (CIBACOPA).
The Astros won the sold-out home game 111-93, to complete a 4-2 series win. Leading the stats for the Astros were U.S. stars Matthew Stainbrook and LeGerald Vick. Stainbrook finished the game with 23 points and 13 rebounds, and Vick 22 points and 10 rebounds.
The Astros will face the Rayos de Hermosillo in the best-of -seven final series. The first two games will be held in the Astros home stadium on Sunday, July 3 and Monday, July 4, both starting at 8 p.m.
Tickets are available at boletomovil.com and the Arena Astros box office. The Astros play at the Polideportivo Avila Camacho on Guadalajara’s Avenida Avila Camacho, a few blocks from Plaza Patria.
Should the Astros win the CIBACOPA final this month, it would mean Guadalajara will have three pro sports champion teams. Atlas are the current Liga Mx soccer champions, while the Charros de Jalisco won last season’s Liga Mexicana del Pacifico baseball crown.
