Fog disrupts flights at GDL

Air traffic control suspended operations between 7:20 and 10.13 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, affecting 43 takeoffs and 30 incoming flights.  Fog also caused delays to 30 flights on Sunday and 15 on Monday.

The early morning misty conditions are a frequent occurrence in the fall and winter, especially around the Guadalajara Airport.    “It is totally out of our control,” said GAP Public Relations Director Miguel Aliaga.

Fog is caused by rapid temperature change at ground level, converting water vapor to droplets that cannot escape into the upper air due to the presence of a thermal inversion.
