Around ten alternatives now exist for customers who do not want to pay the higher charges in the airport’s parking lot. Parking at the new lots is uniformally priced at 140 pesos a day – a substantial saving on the 250 pesos charged at the airport. Additional days are even cheaper: 80 pesos at the new lots, compared with 232 pesos at the airport.
With so many new lots opening almost simultaneously, competition is obviously strong and occupation is running around 30 percent, one lot owner told a local Spanish-language daily. According to the airport’s operators, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico (GAP), as a result of the competition, the group has opened its own “economic” parking area (Park & Save) behind the airport’s hotel.
