Students from the Universidad de Guadalajara (UdG) this week took the unusual step of informing their teachers they would be heading outdoors to take some their classes in Guadalajara’s most well-known public plazas.
The idea, they explained, was so they could continue their studies while maintaining a simultaneous protest at the disappearance of the 43 students from the state of Guerrero – an incident that has shocked the nation and provoked widespread outrage.
Professors quickly warmed to the idea and took several classes this week in prominent spaces, including the Plaza de la Liberacion (photo left) and Plaza de Armas in the Guadalajara center.
One class in ethics and humanism, given by Dr. Roberto Castelán Rueda, director of the Lagos de Moreno prepa, was apparently so interesting that many passers-by decided to hang around and listen.
