Flu vaccine program kicks off

Travelers on Guadalajara’s subway network rolled up their sleeves to receive inoculations last week as the Jalisco Health Department (SSJ) launched the biggest flu vaccination program in its history.

The first booth dispensing free jabs was set up in the Tren Ligero’s San Juan de Dios station on Line Two.  Other vaccination posts will be installed at the Juarez, Tetlan and Periferico stations. The booths will be open through December and the SSJ hopes to administer 400 vaccinations each day at each booth.

The SSJ expects to receive 2.3 million flu vaccines during the October-March season.  Most flu cases surface in January and February.
