Christmas markets cater to many seasonal needs

Four “official” tianguis navideños have been installed in the Guadalajara municipal zone this year

– the biggest being the one in the Jardin del Refugio on Calzada Federalismo, across from the Refugio Tren Ligero station. All the Christmas markets offer pretty much everything one needs in the way of seasonal decor: real and plastic trees, creche figures of all types and sizes, lights, gift paper, cards, and more. Zapopan residents might prefer to head to the tianguis set up outside the municipal offices and Green Cross clinic on Avenida Lopez Mateos Sur,  between Pedro Simon la Place and Sierra de Bolaños.

Meanwhile, supermarkets and shopping malls have gotten into the seasonal spirit in their customary commercial manner. Most supermarkets  in Guadalajara have set up designated zones to sell trees and toys, and shelves are becoming stocked with all kinds of yuletide items and goodies. Some malls are offering Christmas entertainment, with Zapopan’s plush Plaza Andares leading the way.  Andares is hosting “Christmas Parades” with a cast of distinctive characters on Friday, December 16; Tuesday, December 20 and Thursday, December 22, all at 6 p.m.
