Flea market allowed to re-open

Guadalajara City Hall will allow the huge Baratillo flea market to reopen on Sunday, June 28.

Located in the eastern sector of the metropolitan area, the sprawling tianguis covers multiple blocks and attracts large crowds of bargain hunters. City officials had previously shut down the market because of the lack of Covid-19 safety precautions. This Sunday, “filters” will be installed to screen visitors entering the market and inspectors will be out in force to ensure that face masks are being worn by all and that social distancing is respected.

While most streets markets in the metro area are open for business, seven in the Guadalajara municipal area are still waiting for the green light to restart their activities.
