Chapala government picks up unexpected award

The Chapala government has been awarded the National Prize for Good Government by the Federation of Mexican Municipalities (Federación Nacional de Municipios de México or FENAMM).

Accompanied by his wife and other local officials, Chapala Mayor Javier Degollado received the prize at a ceremony held in Mexico City November 25.

Degollado stressed that the award was a recognition of the work of his entire team and not just himself. He also thanked Jalisco Governor Aristoteles Sandoval and the Chapala area’s state and federal deputies, Erika Ramirez and Martha Covarrubias, for their support.

FENAMM highlighted the Chapala administration’s success in promoting “innovative initiatives,” as well as implementing strategies that other municipalities can copy.

FENAMM encompasses more than 1,625 municipalities thought Mexico.
