A crew from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) may have delivered the death blow to five mature jacarandas in an apparently overzealous tree trimming exercise carried out along Calle La Vista in upper Chula Vista.
CFE workmen routinely cut back overgrown branches that may get blown into power lines and knock out service during summer storms, but may have overdone it in the case of the 10- to 15-year-old jacarandas that now show slender chances of sprouting new growth.
