Lake Chapala surges

Heavy precipitation and gushing feeder rivers pushed Lake Chapala’s level up a full nine centimeters over last weekend, with the bounty continuing day by day.  The Jalisco Water Commission reports the lake has gained 87 centimeters since the start of the rainy season. As of Thursday, September 8, it was standing at just over 60 percent full capacity, compared to 54.5 percent a year ago and 44.5 percent on the same date in 2014.

Mayor to give first Informe

Chapala Mayor Javier Degollado will present his Informe de Gobierno, a report on the administration’s work and accomplishments during its first year in office Friday, September 9, 7 p.m., at the Auditorio de la Ribera, La Floresta. Jalisco Governor Aristóteles Sandoval is expected to attend the formal session of the city council. The event is open to the general public.
