Spring equinox at Guachimontones

Just an hour’s drive west of Guadalajara, the town of Teuchitlan is the place to visit for spring equinox celebrations this weekend.

Activities have been going on all week (the actual equinox was March 21), but more events are planned at the ancient ruins of Guachimontones, which include the area’s unique circular pyramids.

The planned events include live music, dance, theater, workshops, conferences, and guided tours of the archeological site and the wonderful new Phil Weigand museum, which explains the history of the area in great detail.

The activities take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m on Friday, March 22, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, and  10 a.m. to 10 p.m on Sunday, March 24.
