Chapala bus line offers reduced student fares

Autotransportes Chapala-Guadalajara is streamlining the procedure to offer reduced rates to students residing in the lakeshore region who travel to Guadalajara to attend preparatoria (high school) and university classes.

The company’s general director José Alfonso Díaz Durán announced this week that the student fare is set at a flat rate of 40 pesos for one-way trips, effective as of Monday, September 7. In contrast with the previous policy of requiring a special pass, students need only present a valid and current ID from the institutions they attend.

Diáz is also working closely with incoming Chapala Mayor Javier Degollado to establish a free transportation program for young scholars with high academic qualifications and special financial needs.
